Amazing Synthetic Backyard Golf Course

Posted by: aaa_janitor In: Backyard Putting Greens

This design consists of 5 golf holes that measure from 20 yards to 50 yards long. Complete with lake, waterfall, sod wall bunkers, tri-level green and a horseshoe green that incorporates 2 greens-in-one. This is completely made out of all synthetic materials and took 4 months to complete. Green speeds average about 10-11 on the stimp. Designed by a former PGA Tour professional, this green would be the envy of any current tour pro…even Mickelson! There is nothing like it anywhere. Let me know what you think.

Unfortunately, Tiger probably wishes he had something like this in his backyard. I know he could afford it.

SWG did not do this project. I was the designer, shaper and consultant with Amazing Synthetic Greens and Lawns doing the install.

Greg this is superb. I have ideas of creating an artificial grass mini-golf course for juniors. Any ideas what costs and sizes of land I would need if I were trying to provide golf on the cheap to the masses?

Hello George…I would think you would want to create a 9 hole situation for juniors. Depends on hole long you want the holes. The holes on this course ranged from 20 yds to 45 yds with the capability of playing different tees to different greens. costs vary so much depending on what type of turf you use.

does the ball react with the green well? for example if you hit a good pitch or bunker shot will it spin back at all?

that would cost a lot of money

June 15th, 2009 at 9:22 pm

hey greg how much would this kind of course with artificial turf cost

The ball reacts like a real bent grass green. It will take 1 short hop and then depending on your ability to spin the ball either check on the 2nd bounce or release about 3-4 feet. If you dropped a ball from your should height straight down, the ball would bounce about 3-4″ high….not much.
