Can anyone tell me how to start planting a putting green in my backyard?

I would clear out the respected area of grass weeds and big rocks..Go about 6-8 inches down bottom layer 1 inch sand ,4 inches loam,1 inch starter soil Phosphate should be in the mix.And purchase2or 3 rolls of sod.This way you can cut it with an exacto knife the shape and width you want.And if you make a mistake,you can use remnants and piece it together like a puzzle.Keep well watered for 2 weeks so it can establish a strong root system.And no putting until then,It could cause the sod to dislodge and slip.Happy putting
