<description>Your options are somewhat limited because you have chosen a Poly green- very low grade product- very old technology. But given that, first, how far are you chipping from? How big is your green? Small greens are generally not big enough to accept longer chip shots (over 20 yards). If you can hit the ball correctly, then you may be able to make the ball check up on a smaller green, but it will not be a green that you can put very well on. Sand greens are faster when they are filled up more. They get harder over time and the sane needs to be reconfigured, etc. The blades crimp and eventually it just becomes chunky, bumpy, hard and fast or any combination of those.

More sand will generally make it faster.

To make a green that accepts chip shots- (I assume your ball is bouncing off the green on the first bounce).you will need to have a green that has more sand to catch the ball and deaden it. This will make it less useful for putting.

A pad could help, but not much if it is a smaller green and if you are chipping from too far.

Building putting greens is a skilled trade. You should consider having one done by SYNLawn. www.synlawn.com. We are the largest manufacturer of synthetic grass and putting green surfaces in the country and we make the most advanced putting systems in the world. Our partner is Dave Pelz, the world&#039;s leading short game expert, and together we are re-defining the way synthetic putting surfaces are manufactured, installed and maintained.
