is their a way to lay down a synthetic putting green without puting sand on it?

This is a good question from one of our readers.

All the places i have seen say to put a layer of sand on the turf.
I would like any other suggestions

Many syn turf companies use a ground up rubber but it’s used to separate the blades as well as provide cushion. I’m not sure it’s fine enough for a putting green syn turf.

Sand is the only product recommended by manufacturers of the synthetic turf for correct installation. Why would you want to use anything else?
