What does it take to have a putting green in my own yard?

I would recommend something synthetic. If you had real grass you would have to get a really expensive mower and trim it every day, just like the greeens keepers. There are numerous companies that specialize in synthetic putting greens for back yards.

Don’t bother messing with grass. If you’re a typicall American, you don’t have time to take care of it. Imagine daily mowing, watering, chemical application. I want one too but i know I don’t have time to take care of real grass.

My advice would be to go with the new artificial surfaces like those at http://www.allprogreens.com

don’t go with grass. hard to maintain and too much work. as my good friend jim furyk would say, " Join me and over 30 other tour players who use southwest greens" southwestgreens.com

In Oklahoma I’d try Bermuda. This wouldn’t be as fine as a bent green, but it would require a little less maintenance and Bermuda will love the Olkahoma climate.

Greens take a lot of daily maintenance. They need to be mowed at least three times a week, watered daily, aereated, sanded, verticut in the case of Bermuda, and fertilized. You will spend ten times as much time caring for it as you will putting on it.

go with the fake green it takes a lot of money to take care of a real green and its way too much time to take care of it
