What is a good size artificial synthetic putting green for my backyard? How about turf height?

Posted by: aaa_janitor In: Putting Greens

I am taking out a 27′ round pool and putting in a putting green. There is a dealer with a section that is 3/4 high 13’x15′. Or another dealer with a section of 1 1/4 high 12×24′. Which of these would be better? Is the 1 1/4 grass too tall for a putting green, even with infill? Thanks so much!

i’d go with the larger space– the 12×24…even with the 1 1/4".

I would normally go with more of a "carpet like" turf for a putting green. I think that the 1 1/4" would be too tall, I think even with infill the ball is going to sink into the blades of grass. I picked up a used piece of turf that was formerly an NFL football field that’s done the trick for me. I referenced the company I bought it from below, they had all types and sizes of turf available, new and used. On top of that it was easy to get someone on the phone to guide me. Good Luck.
