It sounds like a great idea but think twice! I have a friend who owns one. Keep the following in mind before you make the decision:
1) To do it right, it will cost you $5,000 to $10,000;
2) Upkeep is expensive on an annual basis (watering, aeriation, weed control, insects, etc.)
3) You will need a special mower and will need to mow every day or so if you want to keep it in the condition you want.
Unless you are loaded with cash and patience or have someone you can pay to maintain it, I would recommend that you not do it.
If you need a putting green that much, you might be better off buying a home on or very near a golf course—you will enjoy putting much more when you don’t have the hassle of working with the green.

You can put one in for about $1000.00 if you use artificial grass.

I have done it myself, it’s not hard. water requirements are high especially in summer, shade can hinder growth or help insects. dollar spot and fungus’s are a issue. aerating the soil, topdressing, over-seeding. Now lets talk about mowing everyday, the mower used will cost $1000. real and knife sharpening once a month. change the hole location at least once a week so the area does not get trampled. FERTILIZE-FERTILIZE-FERTILIZE any other questions.
